The Pediatric Board Study Guide: A Last-Minute Review. The third edition has undergone a comprehensive revision to fulfill the requirements of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification. This book comprises a grand total of 33 chapters. The initial 31 chapters comprehensively cover all facets of pediatric medicine and have been meticulously revised to align with the latest content specifications outlined by the ABP. This edition encompasses various new guidelines and diseases, such as the latest asthma and obesity guidelines, lead poisoning, HIV screening in adolescents, COVID-19 viral infections, COVID-19 vaccines, the assessment and treatment of well-appearing febrile infants, the updated clinical guidelines from the AAP regarding the prevention and treatment of hyperbilirubinemia in newborns born after 35 weeks of gestational age, and numerous other topics.

The third edition is significantly more extensive and intricate than the second version. The enhancements made to the previous edition include a greater abundance of pictures, figures, graphs, and tables. Every chapter has been authored or evaluated by a specialist in the corresponding topic affiliated with a prestigious American academic institution. To make the chapters even more incisive, we introduced additional tips such as “remember,” “high yield,” and “critical to know.” Furthermore, we incorporated additional mnemonics. Each chapter concludes with a section titled “Pearls and Pitfalls.” The Radiology Review (Chap. 32) has 93 clinical case scenarios that include unique images and radiological findings. These scenarios aim to enhance exam performance and assist general pediatricians in recognizing common radiological findings. The final chapter, titled “Last Minute Review,” has been expanded in the third edition. The high-yield examples are organized in the same order as the book chapters, enabling the reader to differentiate between diseases and conditions. This prepares the examinee to handle common and difficult-case scenarios that may be presented during the examination. The concluding section provides the reader with an opportunity to quickly study over 2000 essential pieces of information for the pediatric board exam, making it an optimal resource for the week leading up to the exam. This book specifically targets pediatricians, fellows, and pediatric sub-specialists who are preparing for the general pediatric board examination or certification maintenance. It also benefits pediatric residents preparing for the in-service exam, daily rounds, and real-life clinical encounters.
